  • IDM Gaming Claims the Crown of LoL Challenger Series

Flamengo eSports, despite its passionate fans, and having an excellent debut campaign at Brazil’s LoL Challenger Series, couldn’t overcome IDM Gaming, who beat the red-and-blacks 3 to 1 last Saturday (31st).

IDM Gaming have become the grand champions of the Challenger Series, which took place at the studios of Promo Arena, Rio de Janeiro. This is the first time that IDM, one of the most traditional Brazilian teams, qualify to the elite series of League of Legends, the CBLoL.

Flamengo, which is from Rio de Janeiro – the team of renowned players Felipe “brTT” Gonçalves, Gabriel “MiT” Souza e Thúlio “SirT” Carlos – still have high chances of ascending to CBLoL, on April 15th when they shall battle the last team in the Promotion Series; their adversary will be decided amongst ProGaming Esports, INTZ e-Sports Club and Team One – the current Brazilian Champions.

Compsed by cyberathletes Matheus “Sarkis” Guimarães, Yan “Damage” Sales, Marcos “Carioca” Oliveira, Gustavo “Name” Rodrigues, and Ruan “Anyone” Silva, IDM Gaming scored the first match of the Best of 5, but Flamengo reacted and tied on the second match.

With more daring comps and an aggressive playstyle, IDM managed to win the next two matches, thus conquering the spot that belonged to paiN Gaming, recently demoted to the Challenger Series after having the worst campaign on CBLoL.

On Facebook, Promo Arena’s CEO Igor Cardoso thanked the efforst and dedication of professionals and fans who followed the entire season of the Challenger Series.

“Thanks to the teams and players, who have prepared themselves exhaustively and made their fans cheer with every play, to the press, and to the entire Promo Arena staff. Thank you very much and let the next Split come!”

The four matches’ VODs – and every other game in the Challenger Series – are available on Promo Arena’s official Twitch channel at twitch.tv/promoarenatv.

But CBLoL isn’t over yet. The grand finals happen tomorrow, April 7th, between Kabum e-Sports and Vivo Keyd, at the CBLoL Studios in São Paulo.

You can watch the matches live on twitch.tv/riotgamesbrazil, starting 1pm GMT-3 (Local Brazilian Time) to know firsthand who’ll be the grand champion of the first split of 2018.
