Vivo Renews Naming Rights Sponsorship in eSports

Vivo announced that they have renewed the naming rights sponsorship in eSports deal with Vivo Keyd, a traditional eSports team in Brazil. Vivo is a brand owned by the Spanish group Telefonica, and the leading telecommunications company in Brazil. The agreement, which in 2014 transformed Keyd Stars into Vivo Keyd, has been renewed for another two years, with an end date of July 2022. Vivo Keyd owns Free Fire, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and League of Legends squads, as well as a LoL Academy team for aspiring professionals.

“The renewal of this partnership reinforces our already solid presence in eSports, and our position as a telephone and internet provider in the Brazilian gaming market. We stride to always maintain close relationship with this audience, ensuring the best experience in broadband connection, offering ultra-high speeds, stability, and a high-technology network,” states Marina Daineze, Director of Image and Communication of Vivo.

“To us it is a great joy to announce the renewal of this partnership on the same year that we have celebrated our 10th year of existence, of dedication to the electronic sport in Brazil. This shows that we are on the right direction. We have many projects prepared for the next years, and we certainly will celebrate many more titles together,” celebrates Tiago Xisto, CEO of Vivo Keyd, adman by profession who has led the restructuring of the team for the past year.

Vivo Renews Naming Rights Sponsorship in eSports

Vivo Keyd, the Esports Team with the naming rights sponsorship of Telefônica.

Vivo Keyd is one of the oldest eSports teams in Brazil. It was established in June 11th, 2010, to dispute StarCraft 2 and Combat Arms tournaments. From Keyd Stars, their original name, the team has been rebranded Vivo Keyd after they acquired the naming rights from Vivo, the lead telecommunications company in Brazil, incorporating the name of their sponsor.

Vivo Keyd was also the pioneer with female eSports teams in Brazil. The all-girl Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad became champions of Brasil Game Cup 2017. This tournament took place in Brazil Game Show, the largest videogames event in Brazil, with more than 200 thousand visitors, in São Paulo.

Vivo Keyd currently has line ups of Free Fire, Counter-Strike, Global Offensive, and League of Legends (LoL).

Ever since its inception, Keyd is a developer of talents. Some of the largest Brazilian CS:GO stars have played for Keyd, including Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo and Fernando “Fer” Alvarenga. They became the best CSGO players in the world playing for SK Gaming in 2017.

Vivo Keyd is LEGENDS in CS:GO

Among their CSGO conquests, Vivo Keyd became in 2015 the first and only Brazilian squad to become LEGENDS on a CSGO Major tournament, at the Intel Extreme Masters in Katowice, Poland.

Vivo Renews Naming Rights Sponsorship in eSportsSpeaking of stars once more, Felipe “brTT”, the most renowned LoL player in Brazil, has also played for Vivo Keyd during his career. Takeshi as well, one of the most iconic and experienced players, who retired in 2020.

The Vivo Keyd League of Legends teams was formed in 2012 when Riot Games officially arrived in Brazil. But the team only begun to take flight when they hired the Brazilian Champions who defended vTi.Ignis. Their victory over the Koreans of Incredible Miracle, during IEM 2013, in São Paulo, is, to this day, one of the most exciting matches in LoL history; and the most valuable for Keyd founder, Edu Kim. They were the very first Brazilian team to defeat a South-Korean squad in an official championship.

Among the trophies that Keyd has collected over the years, there is the Brazilian Champion League 2014 and Riot Rift Rivals 2016 and 2017. Their major sponsors are Acer and Vivo, from which they have a special naming rights sponsorship in eSports.
